Team Maryland's Thrush commits to New Hampshire

November 1, 2009

Team Maryland has announced that U18 forward Casey Thrush has committed to the University of New Hampshire (Hockey East).

“Casey has been a tremendous asset to our organization over the past couple of years,” said Team Maryland head coach Jason Kersner.  “He’s continued to develop and grow as a hockey player and as a person and I’m very proud and excited for him as he moves up the hockey ladder.”

After 10 games in the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), Thrush, now in his fourth season with Team Maryland, has five goals for 13 points.  He led the team in goals last year with 51.

Thrush, a native of Easton, Md., will be graduating from Dematha High School this spring.

“Casey will be entering a world renowned hockey program at UNH that has produced many NHL players and has been a national contender year after year,” Kersner said.

Thrush becomes the second player in two years to commit to the New Hampshire. He will join his former teammate, Nick Sorkin, who committed to UNH last season.

“Team Maryland continues to develop and move its players on to world-class hockey programs,” said Kersner.  “We’re very excited for Casey and his family for his superb accomplishment.”
